A three-day jeans-making workshop with expert fitting support
Jeans are one of the most satisfying garments to make - and one of the most challenging. Fit, structure, heavy fabrics, topstitching, and hardware all come together in a single project, which can feel overwhelming without the right guidance.
This three-day workshop is designed to take the fear out of jeans making. With plenty of individual support, you’ll be guided through the process step by step, learning how to achieve a comfortable, flattering fit and clean, professional finishes.
The emphasis throughout is on understanding fit and developing skills you can use again and again - not rushing to the finish line.
How the workshop is structured
-
Day one focuses on fit and preparation - assessing your pattern, making key adjustments, and cutting your fabric with confidence
-
Days two and three are dedicated to construction, including fly construction, topstitching, pockets, waistband application, and adding hardware
Breaking the process into clear stages allows you to work methodically and calmly, with time to ask questions and make informed decisions.
Patterns
You’re welcome to use your own jeans pattern, or you can work with our Duchess Jeans pattern.
If you plan to bring your own pattern, we’ll ask for the details after booking so we can make sure you’re fully supported during the workshop. Pattern-specific guidance and preparation information will be sent in advance.
What you’ll leave with
This is a focused, practical workshop. While everyone works at their own pace, the priority is fit and understanding, rather than speed.
By the end of the workshop, you’ll leave with:
-
A jeans pattern adapted specifically to fit you
-
A strong understanding of jeans construction techniques
-
The confidence and knowledge to complete your jeans
For many people, this workshop becomes the turning point where jeans making feels achievable rather than intimidating.
Who this workshop is for
This workshop is suitable for confident beginners and intermediate sewists.
You should be comfortable using a sewing machine and have some experience making garments, but no previous experience sewing jeans is required. If you’ve been putting jeans off because they feel complicated or daunting, this workshop is designed to support you every step of the way.
Why this workshop?
When jeans fit well, everything changes. This workshop gives you the skills, understanding, and confidence to make jeans that feel good on your body - not just once, but every time you make them.
