Netting Shower Pouffe
Another item that can be pricey when shop bought but is so easy to make at home. Again it is a great way to use up any netting fabric you have left over from a larger project. You can make them any size, but a pouffe about 15 - 20cm in diameter is a good size to use and hold in the shower.
You will need:
- Approximately 60cm of 150cm wide dress net
- Pins or clips
-
About 40cm of narrow cotton rope or ribbon.
How to make the pouffe
Begin by folding out the fabric so the shorter side is at the top. Now fold the long edges into the middle.
Then fold the whole thing in half lengthwise. Pin or clip the folded edges together.
Draw or mark a line down the middle of the folded net along the length. You can also fold it in half again and lightly press in a centre crease to use as a guide.
Sew a long line of gathering stitches either side of the line or centre crease. Make sure to leave long tales at the beginning and end of your stitching.
Tie the long tail threads together at one end and gently ease the netting fabric along the gathering threads to concertina up all the fabric.
Gather the fabric up as much as you can and then tie all the long tail threads together to secure the fabric in place. I like to use the long thread tails to wrap around the centre to help pull it all tightly together.
Tie the rope or ribbon around the centre of the gathered netting and then join the ends of the rope.
Now it’s time to flouff out the netting pouffe, so gently pull apart all the netting layers until it resembles a ball shape.
These can be made in all sorts of colours and look really pretty hanging in the shower.
